What automotive upholstery needs from foam
Compared to furniture or bedding, automotive foam carries three extra constraints:
- Higher cycle load: A car seat absorbs every minor bump from every drive. Foam fatigue is measured in million-cycle lab tests, not years.
- Tighter IFD tolerance: Driver-side and passenger-side foam must feel identical across a production run. We hold tighter density and IFD tolerance bands for automotive grades than for furniture.
- Batch traceability: Lot numbers traceable from finished seat back to raw chemical batch. If a defect surfaces six months later, you should be able to isolate it to a single production day.

Raw chemical traceability
Lot number stamped at foaming. Linked to polyol and TDI batch invoices on file. Recoverable for the full warranty window.
Tighter IFD bands
Automotive grades sampled at higher frequency than furniture grades. Tolerance bands within ±5% IFD across a production run.
Test certificate per batch
Density, IFD, compression set, tensile strength reported. Attached to delivery challan with batch number.
FR-treated option
Fire-retardant grades available for commercial vehicle interior compliance.

Do you supply directly to OEMs or only aftermarket?
Both. Direct OEM contracts and tier-2 supply to OEM upholstery vendors. Aftermarket workshop supply also available with smaller order sizes.
What is the MOQ for automotive foam?
Recurring OEM contracts have monthly call-off schedules; first-time orders typically start at one block / one truck. Aftermarket workshop orders can be smaller — share volume in the RFQ.
How tight is the IFD tolerance band?
Within ±5% of the agreed target IFD across a single production run. We share batch test certificates with the delivery so you can verify.
Do you supply with FR treatment?
Yes — relevant for bus and commercial vehicle interior compliance. Specify the standard in the RFQ.
